“When we left for 48 hours of refreshment there was great concern and difficulty”

Golan, one of the commanders in the brigade, shared with the president: “When we left for 48 hours to refresh, there was great concern and difficulty, also from the quick and short meeting with the families, but mainly from the difficulty of returning to fighting in Gaza. One of my greatest insights from the war – this is a question that needs to be asked in our society: until How much does the fact that we are brothers depend on our opinions?”

“I grabbed my head and realized the gap between us”

Golan explained: “One day in Gaza, a political discussion developed between us. One of the fighters told me his opinion, I grabbed my head and understood the gap between us, I gave him a hug and told him that in Gaza I don’t waste unnecessary energy.” Golan emphasized: “I did not come back less ideological from the fighting, but I think one of the significant insights is that when I define a person as my brother, it is independent of what he thinks.”

“I call on everyone who returns from the reserves to express and tell about the pain”

The president of the country turned to the fighters and said: “I see arguments in other nations – anyone who wants to travel to all kinds of places that he thinks is all fun there, he just doesn’t understand. It’s true, it’s hard here, but we are an amazing people, and we do amazing things here.”. However, Herzog called on the fighters: “I call on everyone who returns from the reserves to speak, to express their feelings, express and tell about the pains, the traumas, the worries and the concerns.”
