Álvaro Delgado continues his campaign against the Frente Amplio and suggests that it attacks democracy

Álvaro Delgado is already in presidential mode, and began to fire his harangues increasingly louder against the Frente Ampliosince the left party has a good chance of winning the next elections and he is the favorite of the National Party to obtain the nomination.

At a fundraising dinner for his candidacy, Delgado once again trained his guns against the two majority candidates of the Frente Amplio, Carolina Cosse and Yamandú Orsi.

“Voting for the Frente Amplio is not returning to the country of five years ago. It is going back perhaps 20, because this is the most radical Broad Front in recent times, without firewalls, without moderate sectors“Delgado said.

And he did not leave his statements there, because he added: “What’s more, the main contenders, one is supported by the MPP and the tupas, and the other by the Communist Party.”

And, as if that were not enough, the right-wing candidate continued: “Values, directions, guarantees and also the rules of the game are at stake. Therefore, this election implies citizen commitment. Each one of you, whether Uruguayans or Argentines – because we have had the most important qualified migration in recent times, because they came to stay, to live first and then to invest -, you are going to decide in which Uruguay you want to live.

Delgado has to face within the PN Laura Raffo, supported by Herrerismo and Alianza Nacional, two of the toughest sectors of the white right, and Jorge Gandini, who is the candidate for the Por La Patria sector.

Continuity of Lacalle Pou policies

Delgado promised those present at the elegant dinner that, if he is the winner in the next elections, there will be “freedom and trust”, ensuring that he will continue in the same line in which the right-wing Luis Lacalle Pou has been governing.

“What we propose is continuity and certainty. There are two words that encompass everything: freedom and trust (…). We give certainty in the direction, providing protection, taking care of the development conditions. The definition in people is becoming clearer. This is between the Uruguay of the future or going back to Uruguay at the pace of an assembly, where the corporations and the union leadership rule.. Where the gap deepens. Where you live between good and bad, and you even out. If we had not done the LUC, we would not have been able to advance in labor matters, allowing non-strikers to be able to work,” he expressed.

He did not miss the opportunity to caress the concept of the multicolor coalition, which is somewhat blurred because the Colorado Party already has its own presidential candidates, and Cabildo Abierto has had countless disagreements with the government. Even though he identifies as members of the PN, he says that he wants to “renew trust” in this multiparty union.
