‘Difficult moments prove the special weight of a team’

After OFI’s elimination by Panaitolikos in the quarter-finals of the Betsson Greek Cup, Minas Lysandrou spoke to the team’s players and asked them to raise their heads and look ahead.

OFI was eliminated from the semi-finals of the Betsson Hellenic Cup after the second defeat by Panaitolikos in an elimination that “hurt” the Cretans who had even dreamed of appearing in this year’s final.

After the match in Agrinio, Mr. Minas Lysandrou entered the dressing room of the OFI team and wanted to talk to the team’s players who had their heads down due to the exclusion and were disappointed that they could not achieve the qualification goal.

The managing director of the OFI group asked them to raise their heads and look ahead:

“We’re all sad and disappointed about the ban but nobody can say you didn’t try.

As hard and difficult as it is, from this moment we have two choices. One is to gather our strength, to clear our mind and soul and to continue confidently looking ahead and the other is to stay stuck in the past, stay in the exclusion and the year that did not develop as we all expected.

You fought today, you tried, but in football and especially in a cup match, at the end of the day all that matters is the result. And that wasn’t good.

But don’t forget that January has just ended. We must stick together. In difficult moments like these, the special weight and how tight a team we are proves.

I’m not saying it’s all good because it’s not and we’re certainly all angry and frustrated. But we must stick together and move fast and strong into the next day.

Don’t look back. We are looking ahead and starting from Sunday we are going to close the season in the best possible way. Nothing less, nothing more. If we really are family, now is the time to prove it.”
