/ The Syrian national team received a painful blow, before facing Iran scheduled for next Tuesday in the 16-final of the Asian Football Cup held in Qatar.

The Syrian Football Association said in a statement posted on its Facebook account that striker Omar Khribin suffered an injury and did not participate in the training session yesterday, Friday.

The Federation explained that Khribin felt pain in his left leg, and the extent of the injury will be determined after an MRI is performed tomorrow, Saturday, to determine the duration of the player’s absence.

Khribin was the scorer of Syria’s victory over India (1-0) in the third and final round of the group stage, leading the “Qasioun Eagles” to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Asian Cup for the first time in their history.

Ammar Ramadan, in turn, was absent from the Syrian national team’s training yesterday, Thursday, due to a bruise he suffered in his left foot during the India match, as well as Omar Maidani, who needs about 4 weeks of rest, treatment and rehabilitation, to recover from the injury he suffered earlier.
