For a couple of days now, the viola had established contact with the Genoese club, they wanted the Icelandic elf at all costs to please Italiano. The coach, who had been looking for an offensive player with these characteristics for some time, had put him at the top of the list of purchases, the managers have also in recent hours tried to convince the Grifone but without succeeding in their aim.
The Tuscan club started with an offer of 18 million euros, then went up step by step until reaching 24 this morning. Too few, however, for Genoa who asked for thirty and never came down from that threshold by raising a real wall.
