Court of Appeal Sentences 33-Year-Old in Murder Case – Elderly Couple Acquitted

by time news

A man in his 50s was found dead on a couch outside a home in Hagfors at the beginning of May. The man was badly beaten. Three people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder – it was a 33-year-old man and an elderly couple. They were later charged with murder and protecting a criminal, respectively.

Friades – sentenced by the Court of Appeal

The 33-year-old was acquitted of the murder charges in the district court but is now sentenced by the Court of Appeal in western Sweden for murder to 16 years in prison.

The convicted man must also pay damages of SEK 4,579 to the victim’s estate. However, the victim’s relatives, two siblings, do not receive any compensation.

The elderly couple was acquitted of protecting a criminal in the district court. The Court of Appeal makes the same assessment.
