O Ministry of Education (MEC) acknowledged, this Friday, the 2nd, that there was an error in the publication of provisional results from the Unified Selection System (Sisu). On the morning of January 30th, candidates had access to the platform for 25 minutes, some went on their social networks to celebrate passing the desired course, however, the page suffered instability and was taken offline. O MEC returned with the portal on the 31st, and surprised the students who did not have their name included in the list of those selected, as stated on the Sisu page the day before. In a statement, the Ministry stated that the system is safe and the incident is being investigated. “The system is secure and official results are not modified. The incident is being rigorously investigated,” said the ministry.
The registration period is open and candidates who were not selected in the regular call will be able to join the waiting list on the Single Portal for Access to Higher Education, until February 7th. According to information from the organization, more than 2 million students compete for 264,000 places in 6,827 undergraduate courses in public institutions participating in Sisu and the waiting lists will be valid for the entire year. In a post on the social network X (formerly Twitter), the National Union of Students (Une) stated that it will launch a platform to receive reports of this case and similar ones. “This is great nonsense. Tomorrow we will launch a platform for students to report this type of situation that occurred with INEP when publishing the SISU list. All complaints will be forwarded to the MEC and monitored by UNE. They can’t play with our dreams!”, claimed the entity.
