Venezia beaten at the last second: it ends with Camara’s decisive goal. At the Tardini Vanoli’s team does not fail and comes close to the blitz but there is the final insult
An atrocious mockery, the one that matures at the Tardini for Venezia, who bows to a feat by Camara in the 55th minute of the second half, after ten minutes of added time. It’s difficult to swallow such a knockout, after playing well and even coming close to the blitz. A hard blow to absorb after difficult days, which could have an impact on the team.
The story of the match
Parma started very strong, with great aggression and tried to get through the orange-green turbulence of a troubled week. On the pitch, however, Venezia showed the right attitude and managed to stem the yellow-blue gusts, until the 14th minute, when the best chance of the first half of the match fell to Pierini, with a shot fouled by Di Chiara which forced a deflection into corner Chichizola. Parma passes in the 22nd minute, when Mihaila is thrown to the edge of offside by Hernani: a perfect diagonal from the Parma striker who beats Joronen. The goal was first disallowed for offside and then rehabilitated by VAR who validated it.
The balance between Parma and Venice
Venezia, however, didn’t feel the pinch and equalized almost immediately: invitation from Altare and a splendid split goal from Pohjanpalo who managed to anticipate everyone and put in for the 1-1 orange-green draw. Parma has a jolt and in the 31st minute Benedyczak finds a monumental Svoboda coming his way. The best chance for the yellow-blue double occurs in the 41st minute: break by Circati who comes out with the ball and serves Man, beat and return in a crazy pinball machine inside the penalty area, then the ball goes to Mihaila who from two steps he can’t beat Joronen. In the final nine minutes of added time, Altare’s header sent a long shiver down the backs of the Parma fans, with his header just wide. When everything seems to converge towards a draw, here is Camara’s feat that freezes the 500 orange-green fans who arrived at the Tardini.
The emotions at the end
The match then settles down, with the two teams trying to create danger without revealing themselves too much. In the 34th minute the best chance for Parma, with Man who unloads a powerful shot into the corner with a great response from Joronen. In the final, a splendid long-range shot by Di Chiara, who comes close to scoring a Eurogoal from distance. In the final nine minutes of added time, Altare’s header sent a long shiver down the backs of the Parma fans, with his header just wide.
