Ajinkya and Pujara, two senior players in the Indian Test team, are key players in the middle order. But they have both been soggy for the last 2 years. The Indian team is facing defeat due to their loss in the middle order.

Pujara, Rahane’s poor form is a big blow to the Indian team. Even recently, Pujara and Rahane scored only 124 and 136 runs respectively in three Tests against South Africa.

While seniors Pujara and Rahane continue to make inroads like this, many former players are urging the removal of young players like Shreyas Iyer and Hanuma Vihari as they stand in line.

Both Pujara and Rahane, who are in the A category (Rs 5 crore) in the BCCI’s annual salary agreement, are expected to be pushed back to the B category. So even if they feature in the Indian Test squad, it is doubtful they will get a permanent place in the playing eleven.

In this context, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, who has spoken about the continuation of Pujara and Rahane in the Indian Test team, said both Pujara and Rahane are excellent players. I hope they will accumulate more runs in Ranji cricket and take their place in the Indian team again. I think they will have no problem playing in Ranji. Ranji series is the biggest series. We have all played in Ranji matches. So Ganguly said that they will both give Audi back to the Indian team better in Ranji.
