Thekla Carola Wied celebrates her 80th birthday on Monday. The actress has been immortal since the cult series “I’m Marrying a Family”. With Peter Weck (93) she conquered the hearts of millions of viewers – and continues to do so today.
Thekla Carola Wied told BamS this weekend about her big birthday: “In any case, it’s better if you turn 80 than if you don’t turn 80. That’s already clear. The alternative would be that I would have died early. That doesn’t seem particularly desirable to me. So – I’m very happy that I’m turning 80. And healthy! And with my beloved husband by my side. Not being alone is not a given at my age. My and his wonderful family also contribute to my happiness. I can only hope it continues like this for a long time.”

Between 1983 and 1986, Wied and Weck appeared in front of the camera for the cult series “I Marry a Family”. The series was a street sweeper back then. It still appears regularly on television today, most recently at Christmas. The connection between Thekla Carola Wied and Peter Weck never completely broke even after filming ended.
They met again in Salzburg for BILD in the summer of 2018 – after 30 years!
When asked why the two hadn’t seen each other for so long, Peter Weck said at the time: “So much was kept secret from us, there were always expectations that we simply couldn’t or didn’t want to fulfill.”
