Star DJ Gigi D’Agostino is back again

More than two years after his serious illness became known, the Italian star DJ and music producer Gigi D’Agostino is starting new projects again. The Italian, who is best known for his party hits “In My Mind”, “L’Amour Toujours” and “Bla Bla Bla”, is releasing two new singles in the spring and is giving concerts again in the summer.

Incapacitated by illness

“I started my second life without thinking too much about it,” the 56-year-old told the newspaper “Corriere della Sera” (Saturday). D’Agostino announced in December 2021 that he was seriously ill. A little later, he posted a photo on social media that showed him using a walker, causing great concern among his fans. After that it became quiet around him.

He never revealed what exactly was wrong with him. He now told the Corriere that he didn’t want to be seen as someone who wanted pity: “If it were up to me, I wouldn’t even have said that I was sick.”

Guest at the Sanremo Music Festival

But he’s doing well again now, says D’Agostino. “I concentrate on how I feel now. At some point I had to do this, otherwise the brain continues to live on ideas related to the pain or on the fear of experiencing it again.” His biggest appearance since his illness in front of an audience of millions is next week at the famous Sanremo music festival, where he will be a star guest.

The Italian artist achieved his international breakthrough as a DJ in the late 1990s and around the turn of the millennium. In 2018, together with the Lithuanian DJ Dynoro, he had a number one hit in Germany with “In My Mind”. He most recently had a hit in 2020 with his song “Hollywood”.
