This year’s Grammy Music Awards took place on Sunday night in Los Angeles.

Among the big winners of the evening was Alexx Antaeus of Greek origin.

The internationally recognized music producer was awarded together with the son of the legendary Bob Marley, Julian Marley, with the Grammy for Best Reggae Album (Best Reggae Album), for their album “Colors of Royal”.

Julian Marley was on tour and was unable to attend the award ceremony.

The award was received by Alexx Antaeus who dedicated his award to the people of Jamaica, where he has been living and working for several years:

“I would like to dedicate this award to the Jamaicans who have accepted me as one of their own. And they have responded to the country’s motto: Out of many, one”.

The 63-year-old today Alexx (Alexis) Antaeus was born and raised in Patras. At the age of 17, he immigrated with his parents to the USA where he studied at California State University receiving a degree in Music Industry.
He worked as a DJ in the late 80s and started creating his own tunes.

At the same time, he was an editor at the internationally renowned music magazine Billboard, coming into contact with many well-known artists.

In 1992 he was awarded as the “Best DJ of Los Angeles” while in the same year he was named a member of the committee of the Grammy music awards.

Then he will build his own studio in New York from where big names of the world music scene will parade (Rolling Stones, The Boys, Herbert Gronemeyer, Earth Wind & Fire, Falco, Lonnie Gordon, Malcolm McLaren etc.) while he records and his personal moments with reference to his roots (Byzantine Meditation).

His compositions will be played on the radio, included in Buddha Bar record collections and used in commercials.

Jamaica enters his life through his collaboration with Jamaican dj Super Cat and that’s how we get to his partnership with Julian Marley. The latter was nominated for a Grammy award for the third time, which turned out to be lucky.

Alexx Antaeus also runs an ethnic restaurant in Kingston, Jamaica, the…Greek ‘Opa’. Among its specialties, pastitsio, moussaka, souvlaki and tzatziki.

Alexx Antaeus, when his professional obligations allow, often returns to Greece.
