The general director of Civil Aeronautics, Francis Argueta, is dismissed
Francis Argueta, who until today was director of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC), was dismissed and as it was announced, it will be Azucena Zelaya who will assume the duties of the position.

The Minister of Communications, Jazmín de la Vega, pointed out on social networks that it is “evident that the regulatory function of civil aviation has not been efficiently fulfilled by the corresponding institution. Furthermore, the management of airports, particularly La Aurora International Airport, has presented notable deficiencies that require prompt and decisive action by the Government.”
The head of the CIV also announced that an audit will be carried out in that Directorate. It is worth mentioning that recently the Public Ministry (MP) carried out an inspection procedure related to a case they are investigating in relation to the purchase of elevators and electric stands at the La Aurora International Airport.
ABOUT ZELAYA FLORÍAN
The Ministry of Communications, through a statement, shared information regarding Ingrid Azucena Zelaya Florián, who was administrative and financial deputy director, will assume leadership functions of the DGAC.
According to information, Zelaya has a degree in Computer Science and Business Administration and has a master’s degree in business finance. In addition, she has studies in advanced leadership and change strategies at INCAE and Project Management at the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala.
She participated in the coordination of the La Aurora International Airport Modernization Study (2017-2019), a Millennium Challenge Corporation project, funded by the Congress of the United States of America, as Deputy Executive Director of the National Competitiveness Program of the Ministry of Economy.
Finally, they point out that he has 20 years of experience in the public sector and execution of international cooperation projects. He has held management positions in the Ministries of Economy and Public Health and Social Assistance, as well as management positions in administrative and financial matters in the Ministries of Education and Agriculture, Livestock and Food.
