Durov criticized Whatsapp for low security

by time news

Telegram founder Pavel Durov criticized the Whatsapp messenger owned by Meta. In his channel, he wrote that since the creation of this messenger, he has hardly ever been safe. This is how Durov reacted to a study published in Forbes by Boldernd, an American startup specializing in cybersecurity issues. According to the published data, Whatsapp has had a vulnerability for several years, due to which criminals can gain access to users’ correspondence.

“Every few months, researchers discover a new security problem,” writes Durov.

According to him, it is difficult to imagine that the Whatsapp team was so incompetent.

In December, Durov said that his Telegram remains protected from the influence of third parties. He cited an FBI report as an example, which stated that the bureau has access to Viber, iMessage, Whatsapp and Line, but Telegram, Threema, Signal and Wickr do not transfer correspondence to third parties. At the same time, it was noted that Telegram could, at the request of law enforcement officers, give out the IP address and phone number of the user, Vedomosti points out.
