The Asturian company Talleres Alegría manufactures 264 container wagons in its Llanera factory for the French multinational Ermewa, dedicated to the rental and financial leasing of railway rolling stock. The French company once again trusted the Asturian family business, which has just manufactured 50 innovative six-axle wagons for the new railway highways, on which trucks are transported by train to reduce emissions into the atmosphere.

Ermewa is expanding its fleet of wagons in Spain to take advantage of plans to boost rail freight transport and European aid for zero-emission mobility. To provide itself with new trailers, it has trusted the centenary Asturian group of manufacturing, repair and maintenance of railway equipment Talleres Alegría, which four years ago acquired from Duro Felguera the workshops of its former subsidiary Tedesa in the Silvota industrial estate (Llanera) to transform them into a freight car manufacturing center that was added to the other factories that the group also has in Llanera, Gijón, Carreño, Mieres and Alcázar de San Juan (Ciudad Real).

Ermewa commissioned Talleres Alegría to produce 50 innovative wagons for railway highways, a project valued at almost 13 million euros, and has subsequently contracted the manufacture of 264 80 and 90 foot container wagons for Iberian gauge, but with possible adaptation to international gauge at a cost low. Deliveries have already begun and are expected to be completed this year. Ermewa has already closed the rental of these wagons with clients, as reported by the Association of Wagon Owners and Operators of Spain (Faprove), to which both Alegría and Ermewa belong.

In 2022 and 2023, the Asturian company also manufactured 120 wagons for PorTren to transport pulp in Uruguay.
