FA Cup: Qualification for the “16” for Nottingham Forest – Chelsea… from the old days

by time news

THE Nottingham Forest “struggled” a lot against Bristol City (14th in the Championship) and in the replay of the 4th round FA Cup (0-0 the first match on January 26), but even through the penalty shoot-out (1-1 regular time and overtime) it prevailed 5-3 and ensured its presence in the 5th round, where it will face at home Manchester United.

The home team took the lead in the 8th minute with Origi’s goal, but Bristol City proved to be… a tough nut to crack and equalized in the 14th minute through Knight. The score did not change afterwards, not even in the extra 30 minutes, with Forest appearing much cooler in the battle than the white bullet.

The hosts hit all five of their shots (Avonigi’s last), Bell missed Bristol City’s second penalty and the Vangelis Marinakis-owned side secured their place in the last 16 of the FA Cup.

Chelsea… from the olden days

Three 24 hours after being crushed by Wolves at Stamford Bridge (2-4) in the Premier League, Chelsea put on a big show at Villa Park, where they emphatically defeated Aston Villa 3-1 in the second leg of the “32” of the Cup (0-0 the first match in London) and ceremoniously advanced to the “16” phase of the competition.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team was excellent in the first 45 minutes, completely surprising the “villagers” with Conor Gallagher (11′) and Nicholas Jackson (21′).

In the 53′, Enzo Fernandes “sealed” the qualification for the “blues”, who in the next round will face Leeds at home and will have the first reason to be in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The only thing that Villa managed was to reduce in stoppage time (90+1) with Moussa Diabi.
