Writer-philosopher Alica Nijat’s inability to pay even social expenses is the topic of the day.
People either accuse the government why an intelligent person should live in this situation, or they appeal to the society why there is no support for such people.
The root of the problem is somewhat deeper and even philosophical.
There is no readership in Azerbaijan.
There is one general answer to the question of why the author of 100 books should be in this situation, and that is this.
There are no readers in the country.
Serious literature has no readers. Reading habits have been disrupted. The destruction of the press has turned Azerbaijanis into a “social network society”. Here, there is a shortage of writing culture, reading culture, language and conceptual thinking, arguments are replaced by threats or curses, arguments are replaced by virtual conflicts.
The fault, of course, lies with the government.
He made Tahsil’s mother cry.
He destroyed the press.
It destroyed the book market.
He created banal trends by following serious topics.
In literature, art, education, and media, it has given rise to apolitical and low but painless trends by inculcating banality as much as possible.
It created the crisis of politics.
It created an ideological gap.
Who will read books that are serious, give knowledge, give reason, make thinking important?
The writer must either eat the scraps of the government’s table and make his face shine, or shrink from the cold and turn blue. Has anyone read the books of authors who supposedly choose the scraps of the table of power as episodes of salvation?
There are only 5-6 thousand book readers in this big country, five or six times less newspaper readers.
During all these years, the authorities created a society consisting of “homo-corruptists” of non-serious topics. Homocorruptics become active only in certain mobilization streams. In the rest of the time, the interests of the country and the priorities of the nation are not relevant for them.
Homo-corrupts are individuals of corrupt societies. In order to live, they cheat, take bribes, give bribes, steal, fight, stab, swear, but they don’t read books or read newspapers.
Alisa Nijat cannot do these things, she is not a homocorruptus, so she must die of cold.
