/ The US Ambassador to Baghdad, Elena Romanski, expressed, on Tuesday, her astonishment at the increase in Iraqis’ bank accounts.

She said in her tweet on the website

She added that from 2021 to 2022, the total number of people with a bank account in local banks increased by 31%, stressing that it is “impressive progress.”

She continued, “By working with Iraq on reforms, we contribute to building confidence in the banking sector,” considering that “modern banking services enable the promotion of a greater amount of foreign investment and the protection of funds from financial crimes, theft and loss.”
