Ashraf Ahmed, president of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, called for the recruitment of skilled Bangladeshi manpower for the development of information technology and infrastructure sector in Armenia.

He made this call in a meeting with the Armenian trade delegation at the capital’s Gulshan Center on Friday (February 8). At this time, Dhaka Chamber Senior Vice President Malik Talha Ismail Bari, Vice President Md. Members of the Board of Directors including Junayd Ibn Ali were present.

A delegation of four members of ‘Enterprise Armenia’ led by Deputy Minister of Finance of the Republic of Armenia Narek Terian, who is visiting Bangladesh, discussed bilateral trade and investment with the Board of Directors of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).

Welcoming the Armenian delegation, Dhaka Chamber President Ashraf Ahmed said that Bangladeshi engineers and construction workers have been working in infrastructure development for a long time with great efficiency in Middle East and South Asian countries. We have a lot of skilled manpower in this sector. They are able to use their skills and experience in the development of Armonia’s infrastructure.

He also said that Bangladesh is producing a large amount of young manpower every year in the information technology sector. Armenian entrepreneurs can employ Bangladeshi skilled manpower in this sector.

President of Dhaka Chamber said that Bangladesh has a large population and has a large number of consumers. Taking this into consideration, Armenian entrepreneurs can come forward to invest in potential sectors in this country.

Ashraf Ahmed emphasized on checking the feasibility of signing a free trade agreement between the two countries and focusing more on exporting products with duty-free facilities in the Armenian market after Bangladesh’s LDC. Besides, he emphasized on the development of banking activities between the two countries for the development of bilateral trade.

During the meeting, Armenia’s Deputy Finance Minister Narek Terian said that Armenia needs engineers, architects and skilled construction workers to develop the infrastructure sector. Skilled manpower is also required in IT sector. There is a lot of potential for the talented youth of Bangladesh in this sector.

He proposed the formation of a ‘Joint Chamber’ as well as increased communication between trade associations of the two countries to expand bilateral trade and investment and strengthen ties between the private sector.

The Deputy Minister of Armenia said that his country has FTAs ​​with CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Vietnam, Singapore and Serbia and has a SEPA agreement with the European Union. Taking that opportunity, Bangladeshi entrepreneurs can come forward to invest in Armenia in high-tech and information technology, smart agriculture, food processing, tourism, textile, footwear and medicine sectors.
