“Peito”: Mimicat’s new ballad about “the pain of losing someone”

The song is part of the next album of originals by the singer who represented Portugal at Eurovision in 2023.

The new album comes out this year.

A love story that ended, leaving only grief and emptiness. This is the theme of “Peito”, Mimicat’s new single that was released this Friday, February 2nd. It is now available on all digital platforms.

The theme that follows “Vais Ter Saudades” is a pop ballad. “When I wrote this song I thought about how the person who remains after the other person leaves would feel. Whether they are people who live together for a lifetime or a few years. The happy moments remain forever, but also the sadness and emptiness of lack”, comments the 39-year-old artist.

“Peito” was written by the singer herself and composed in partnership with Filipe Survival. It features vocal harmonies by Mimicat and a chorus that “emphasizes the pain we go through after losing someone”.

Last year was very memorable for the performer, after winning the Festival da Canção with “Ai Coração”, having then represented Portugal at Eurovision. For 2024, the third album of originals is scheduled to be released, which succeeds “Back in Town”, released in 2017. From the album we already know “Tudo ao Ar”, “Mundo ao Contrário” (with Filipe Gonçalves), “Vais Ter Saudades”, “Peito” and “Ai Coração”.

Mimicat is one of the nominees for the NiT 2024 Awards, in the category of Best Original Theme. Voting is underway online.
