The Sarmatia oil pipeline joint-stock company has replaced its president, Day.Az reports with reference to the press release of the joint-stock company.

In accordance with the decision of the shareholders, the JSC was headed by Bozena Knipfelberg, a representative of the Polish company PERN SA.

Let us note that the company was created in 2004 precisely on the initiative of PERN Przyjazn and Ukrtransnafta for the completion of the Odessa-Brody-Plock-Gdansk oil pipeline.

Later, the joint-stock company included the Azerbaijani SOCAR, the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation and the Lithuanian Klaipedos Nafta.

Ukraine built the Odessa-Brody oil pipeline with a length of 667 kilometers during 1996-2001 to supply Caspian oil. In 2013, the European Commission included the project to complete the Odessa-Brody pipeline to Plock in the list of 250 highest priority projects for the EU until 2020, but the project is actually frozen.

At the end of January 2024, Ukraine and Poland again discussed this oil pipeline project against the backdrop of a sanctioned reduction in EU oil purchases from the Russian Federation.
