As part of the “Neoreality” world tour, a concert by the famous Canadian musician, composer and producer Steve Barakatt will take place at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku.

Steve Barakatt was born in the Canadian city of Quebec into a Lebanese family. His parents loved music very much, and from the age of four Barakatt began to master the piano. The musician’s work is varied; he performs both classical music and jazz. On the eve of the concert, Steve Barakatt held a rehearsal at the Heydar Aliyev Center, where on February 10 he will give Azerbaijani music lovers a sea of ​​emotions and a wonderful journey into the fascinating world of piano music.

In a conversation with Trend, Steve Barakatt shared his impressions of his visit to the capital of Azerbaijan, Day.Az reports.

“I have long wanted to visit Azerbaijan, and I am very happy that I am here. My ancestors are from Lebanon, and the unity of East and West, the similarity of our cultures attracted my attention, so I planned a visit to Azerbaijan. I have about your country, its history, culture I had only wonderful impressions. I managed to take a walk around the city, visited the center, Fountain Square, tasted local dishes. By the way, my friends also came from Canada, we walked around Baku with them, received information about the city and its sights. During the walk “I met many representatives of the younger generation, which filled me with positive emotions. There is a new breath in Baku, an influx of positive atmosphere and mood. And this comes from the youth,” the musician noted.

Steve Barakatt expressed his admiration for the Heydar Aliyev Center and the conditions created here for holding concert programs. “In Baku, I will give a concert in a magnificent hall. I believe that the Heydar Aliyev Center combines elements of the past and the future, and since my creativity, music is also a fusion of the past and the future, I decided to perform in this wonderful space. Architect of the Center Heydar Aliyev – Zaha Hadid, I am a big fan of her work. I consider the building of the Heydar Aliyev Center her masterpiece. It is a pity that Zaha Hadid passed away, but her works remain in Azerbaijan and other countries of the world, which are admired. I would like to note that in the hall “The “auditorium” of the Heydar Aliyev Center has excellent acoustics. I was given a tour of the Heydar Aliyev Center, I visited the Heydar Aliyev Museum. I also got acquainted with the exhibition of classic cars, retro cars are of great interest to me,” the musician said.

Speaking about his work, Steve Barakatt noted that his music is both classical and jazz. “At the concert in Baku, classical works, jazz compositions, and modern eclectic compositions will be performed. As for the date of the concert, it will take place on the eve of Valentine’s Day (Valentine’s Day). I hope that men will come to the concert with their beautiful ladies of the heart,” he said.

Barakatt is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, he is also the author of the UNICEF anthem – “Lullaby”, a recording of the anthem was even heard in space, and now the musician plans to perform it at a concert in Baku.

Steve Barakatt also said that Azerbaijani musical culture is of great interest to him. “The unity of European and oriental sounds speaks of the richness of Azerbaijani music. One of my goals is to meet local musicians, learn about national musical instruments, and bring our instruments to Azerbaijan. By the way, the string instrument oud is in both the musical culture of Azerbaijan and Lebanon. That’s why I feel at home in Azerbaijan,” he added.

When asked whether the pianist had prepared a musical surprise for Azerbaijani listeners, for example, whether he would perform an excerpt from an Azerbaijani composition at the concert, Barakatt answered a little intriguingly: “Let it remain a surprise.”

Let us note that the musician’s concert in Baku will consist of two parts. The program will include compositions from Barakatt’s latest album, as well as favorite works from past years.
