As part of the trip to Azerbaijan, a group of Moroccan journalists traveled to the cities of Agdam, Askeran and Shusha in the Karabakh economic region.
As Day.Az was informed by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, the delegation first got acquainted with the Imaret complex of Panahali Khan, the Juma Mosque in Agdam, examined the ruins of the Agdam State Drama Theater, and witnessed acts of vandalism committed by Armenians. The guests were informed in detail about the destruction of our historical monuments, restoration and reconstruction work carried out in accordance with the master plan of Aghdam.
Having then visited Askeran, the delegation got acquainted with the mass grave discovered in this city and took photographs.
During the familiarization, which began from the central square of the city of Shusha, there was a visit to the executed monuments to famous personalities of Azerbaijan – Natavan, Bulbul and Uzeir Hajibeyli, the Ashaghi Govharaga mosque, the Shusha fortress and Jidir Duzu.
Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Shusha region Aydin Kerimov, meeting with the guests in the building of the Executive Power of the Shusha region, informed them in detail about the history of our ancient city, the acts of vandalism to which it was subjected during the years of occupation, the restoration and reconstruction work carried out here, and noted that At the 12th Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Islamic World, held in the capital of the State of Qatar, Doha, the cultural capital of Azerbaijan, the city of Shusha, was declared the “Cultural Capital of the Islamic World” for 2024.
