Injury blow for Bodø/Glimt – not enough to start the series

by time news

On Thursday evening, MRI images were taken of Runar Espejord, and on Friday the images were assessed by the medical apparatus.

– We have used today to find out what to do with Runar, and we have gone through the images with an MRI doctor. Runar will need a good period before he plays matches again, we cannot say anything more about how long that will be today, says Morten Sørgård to glimt.no.

Furthermore, it says that Espejord will not only miss the two upcoming matches against Ajax, but also the first match in the Eliteserien, which is on 1 April away to Fredrikstad.

Espejord has struggled with major injury problems in recent seasons. In the autumn, he had to undergo surgery after sustaining an injury in the match against Lugano. That caused him to miss the rest of the season.

Now he has to settle for another longer stay on the sidelines. After only a quarter of an hour on the pitch against Malmö, Espejord was left sitting on the grass. He received treatment for several minutes before he had to be helped off the pitch.

Espejord had clear pain on the back of his right thigh.

Oscar Kapskarmo is the only pure striker who does not struggle with injuries. Kasper Høgh is still not back after the injury problem he suffered in Stabæk last year. In addition, Glimt has sold Faris Pemi Moumbagna to French football this winter.

Against Malmö, it was the returning Håkon Evjen who started on top for the reigning league champions, but he is primarily intended for the role of inside runner in Knutsen’s eleven.

Bodø/Glimt will meet Ajax in the first of two meetings in the Conference League next Thursday. The second leg will be played at Aspmyra the following week.
