Bakram Aliyev, a prisoner of Ganja, spoke about what happened to him in the police station and “Banditizm”.

“On my way to Baku, people I did not know stopped me in plain clothes at the Navai post, put me in their car and brought me to Ganja to MTN (Ganja branch of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications). I stayed there for 4-5 hours, then they handed me over to the Nizami District Police Department.

They took me to the chief’s room at the Nizami District Police Station. They showed me a video in the chief’s room. They asked, are you in the video? I said yes, I am. The police shot me, I defended myself, I pushed him.

They took me to another room. There were 3 people in civilian clothes in the room. They started beating me. They knocked me down. They started kicking on the ground. They handcuffed me from behind, I couldn’t move. 3 people kept kicking my head, back, and kidneys.

Later, other people came to the room, and those who entered asked: who was this, they said, “The one who hit Samir and knocked him down.” Who entered the room, hit and beat me.

Samir Nizami was an employee of the district police department. I was beaten by Samir’s (deputy chief of the post-patrol service battalion of Ganja main police department Samir Bayramov – ed.) co-workers. Because of that, they beat me a lot and oppressed me.

They hit me on the head with thick books. There were 18-20 policemen in the room. They all came one by one and beat me, they were all angry with me.

If I see those who enter the room – the first lieutenant, the captain, those in civilian uniform, now I recognize them all.

One of the men in plainclothes checked my pockets. I had 115 manats. He took my money and said, “100 is mine, 15 is yours.” I said, return my money, he started hitting me. Then he left. Then another person came, I told him that the person who left just now stole my money, if you see him, tell him to bring my money and give it to him. 1 hour passed, the person who took my money came and started beating me that you spread to the whole department that Ramin took my money. Then he told me that I will not give you this money. I cursed whoever gave you this money. He cursed himself, took my money and left.

Then I was herded into another room. There was an investigator in the room. He said my name is Javiddi. He asked how did you go there? I started to tell what happened to me? After a while, the door opened. 6-7 policemen entered. Did they say that was it? And he said that was it. That man had a steel in his hand. I found out that it was Samir. Two of the policemen, one on Samir’s right arm and one on his left arm. Samir took his steel in his hand and started to beat me with steel. The investigator was in the room, but did not say anything. Most of the impact hit my head and right arm. My right arm was black from shoulder to hand, and my head was swollen. Among them was a major. He came and spat on me, then they left. There were two people left in the room.

They lifted me from the floor and sat me on a chair. Investigator Javid said that if you sign these documents, Article 315 will fall on you, and you will sleep for 1-2 years. Otherwise, they will spill your insides here, you poor thing. He said this and left the room. After the investigator left, the people in the room started beating me again.

Then they dropped me to the 1st floor. There was a corridor at the back of the duty station. They kept 23-30 people on their knees, facing the wall, hands on their necks in that corridor. 7-8 policemen were standing behind them. They kicked their backs and heads. Those policemen were “spesnaz” policemen.

They handed me over to those policemen. The police asked who it was. Those who handed me over said, “This is the man who knocked down Samir.”

The police started kicking and punching me. They threw me to the ground and climbed on my back. Both of them started jumping on my back. My ribs were crushing as they jumped. I couldn’t cough or sneeze for two months. I was breathing hard. Then they put me next to the people they lined up against the wall, and started kicking and punching me from behind.

Two people passed out there. They woke him up by pouring water with a bucket.

Then they took me out to the yard of the department. There was a “spesnaz” policeman in the yard. He was walking with a machine gun in his hand. They left me with him and went to bring others. I was in a very bad situation. They tore my clothes. How big my head was swollen. The policeman standing in the yard said to me, “Do you want to save your life?” I didn’t say anything. The police told me to run and I will shoot you. We have already killed 3 of you.

Then they brought other people to the yard. They put us in a “prison car” and took us to the Kepaz District Police Department. When entering the department, there was a room on the right. They put me in that room. There was a major in the room, his name was Nizami. He started to slap and kick me.

They took me out of that room to a long corridor. The police told me to lie down and drive. I didn’t stretch either. The police started to beat me. 2-3 policemen joined this, they beat me so much, my eyes went black, I passed out. I woke up and they were putting me in the cell one after another. I came to my senses, the children gave me water.

2-3 hours passed. The police came and took me out of the cell and put me in a room. There was a police captain there. The police captain opened the front of his pants and said that I will make you dirty, I will urinate on your head. I also hit my head on the floor and the wall, and my head split open. They took that policeman out of the room. They started hitting me again. Then they took me and put me in a cell. 3-4 hours passed. It would be 2-3 o’clock. In the evening, they beat us out of the cell and put us in the “prisoner’s car”. We were 10-12 people. They took us to the Nizami District Court.

They beat me when I got out of the car. They took us to the courtroom. The judge gave a prison sentence of 4 months. Then they beat him again and put him in the “prisoner’s car” and took him to the Kepaz District Police Department. They beat us and put us in the cell.

The morning dawned. They only took me in the car. In the evening, we reached “banditry”, they put me in a cell.

In the morning, they took me out of the cell and took me to the second floor. They put him in a room. As soon as two people entered there in civilian clothes, they started beating me with a baton in their hands. My hands were handcuffed. I was left in a state of weakness. They dragged me to the head of the room. I felt like they were tying a wire to my little finger. I looked up and saw a black device on the table. They started to give “current”. I passed out 3-4 times. Nashatyr was woken up by smelling alcohol, and also gave a “tok”. Then a person came in and asked who was this? They said that this is what brings down the police. He said I will do it myself. There was someone there, he said, “Put the “toku” to Mingachevir.” He put a very strong voltage. My voice was hoarse from screaming. The flesh of both of my index fingers was torn. I remember that two policemen took me to the cell in a herd.

I couldn’t get up for two days. I got up on the second day, I was slowly coming to my senses. And they took me out to the second floor. They beat again. Then there was someone who started pulling my hair out and throwing it in front of me. They oppressed. Although it has been 10 months, I still have severe headaches. It even happens that I lose consciousness for 10-15 minutes.

They hit my leg with a mallet so that my liver and kidney would collapse. I was gasping for breath from the pain. I could not get up from the ground, the soles of my feet were swollen and bruised.

Then 2 people came and took me to the cell. They were kept in Kars without hunger for 2 days. A couple of days passed, they checked my body. They gave me cream and medicine that I rubbed on my body. My whole body was blue. My whole body ached, I couldn’t sleep because of the terrible pain.

After 7 days of brutality and torture in the Nizami District Police Department and 15 days of “banditry”, they brought me to the Kurdakhani detention center.

I saw on TV and read on the Internet what atrocities Armenians inflicted on our nation in Khojaly. I was very bad. I also suffered those oppressions. But in my own country. I felt like I was captured by the Armenians.

When I was brought from “Banditizm” to Kurdakhani, they put a black mesh on my head. I didn’t know where they were taking me. God only knows what I drew and thought along the way. They were very cruel. I still haven’t recovered.

10 months after the torture, an expert from the prosecutor’s office came to verify the fact of torture. It had already been 10 months. Although there are no marks left on my body after 10 months, I know that these brutalities and tortures left an indelible mark on my life.

Now my health is not good either.” This was written by Ganja prisoner Bakram Khagani oglu Aliyev.

It should be noted that the case of the 8-person group, represented by Bakram Aliyev, is currently being considered in the Sabunchu District Court. The trial is open in the Sabunchu District Court under the chairmanship of Dadash Imanov, judge of the Ganja Serious Crimes Court. The judge scheduled the next hearing for June 27 at 3:00 p.m.
