Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said today in the eastern district of Tulcea, speaking about the RO-ALERT warnings received by the population last night in the context of the war in Ukraine, that the Russian Federation has not carried out a single deliberate attack against Romania and certainly will not , Agerpress reported.

“The Russian Federation has not made a single deliberate attack against Romania, and I tell you for sure that it will not do it, there is no justification for such a thing. We have an anti-drone system that is already operational along the Danube, especially in the region of (Ukraine city) Ismail. The state has the obligation to inform, sometimes this information bothers us, sometimes we don’t like it. But there was no attack against Romania,” said Cholaku, quoted by BTA.

He emphasized that “Romania has never been more secure from a military point of view than it is now, and it will never be more secure than now.”

“We all know how RO-ALERT works, this is not the first warning, but I think it is right. I, as a citizen, especially after the Revolution (of 1989), want to be informed and know the truth. But Romania is not in no danger of going to war,” the prime minister also pointed out.

The population of Tulcea district and the city of the same name received three notifications through the RO-ALERT system last night warning of possible falling objects from the airspace in the context of the war launched by Russia against Ukraine, and these are the first warnings of this type since the beginning of this year, the Emergency Situations Inspectorate informed.

Residents of Tulcea were warned of the possibility of objects falling from the airspace and were advised to take measures for protection and shelter if the situation warranted it.

On social media, a number of individuals from Tulcha County said they heard loud explosions for a long time, but also the sound of planes flying over, and it scared them.

The Romanian Ministry of Defense said earlier today that no drone had reached Romania’s territory. The institution informed that F-16 aircraft of the Turkish Air Force were lifted from the air base in Fetești, southern Romania, to carry out an inspection of the national airspace, in the context of the new drone attacks against the Ukrainian port infrastructure in the cities of Ismail and Reni.

According to Ukrainian media, three people were injured in the explosions in Ismail, and port facilities, roads, trucks and cars were also damaged, Digi 24 TV reports.

Last year, Romania repeatedly reported that debris from Russian drones was found on its territory after attacks on Ukrainian facilities on the opposite bank of the Danube River.
