Jaguares de Córdoba reached the eight after their 1-0 victory against Águilas Doradas at the Jaraguay de Montería stadium for the fifth day of the BetPlay 2024-I League. Wilson Morelo enforced the law of the former and scored the winning goal at the last minute against those led by Hernán Darío ‘Bolillo’ Gómez, who suffered their second defeat in a row.
The first half had few emotions. Both Jaguares de Córdoba and Águilas Doradas did not have strength on the attacking front, so they reached the last quarter of the field with little ease and the scoring options were really few. Neither of the two clubs made a difference in the first 45 minutes and possession of the ball was shared in a game that was played in the middle of the field.
The first approach was for the locals with a free kick in front of the goal that Pablo Rojas took. The ball surpassed the barrier and reached the goal where José David Contreras flew and sent the ball to the side. The Antioqueños responded and through Jesús David Rivas demanded goalkeeper Jhon Alexander Figueroa who saved the shot.
Morelo, the figure of victory
In the complement things changed little, however, Jaguares de Córdoba missed a very clear one. Wilson Morelo received a ball in his own field and led the counterattack to later filter a pass to Elian David Villalobos, who entered the area alone and took a cross shot that went wide.
At minute 70, Felipe Pardo entered, who this week was signed by Águilas Doradas and returned to play an official match after 10 months. The attacker created danger for the visit with a cross that was poorly rejected by the defense of the team led by Hubert Bodhert.
At minute 90, Jaguares de Córdoba took the victory. Exneyder Guerrero recovered a ball midfield and assisted Wilson Morelo, who received it in three quarters of the field, entered the area making an eight to Joaquín Varela, and took a powerful shot that beat goalkeeper José David Contreras.

With this result, Jaguares de Córdoba climbed to fifth place in the standings with eight points, after two games won, two tied and one lost. Águilas Doradas dropped to ninth place by remaining with 7 points. Deportes Tolima and La Equidad, their next rivals, respectively.
