Xabi Alonso is considered the new star in the coaching sky. But how long will he be active in Leverkusen? A certain fan camp is already getting impatient.
Leverkusen – Xabi Alonso is a win for the Bundesliga. He was already that when he laced up his boots for FC Bayern Munich from 2014 to 2017 and won a total of five titles there. The then Bayern boss Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was considered one of the world-class midfielder’s biggest fans. And back then, he wished that Alonso would one day become Bayern coach.

The Basque is now back in the German football upper house and also as a coach – albeit at Bayer Leverkusen. As coach of the Werkself, he is currently standing up to the record champions, and the big summit meeting will take place on the evening of February 10th (all TV information on Bayer Leverkusen vs. FC Bayern Munich). Alonso stands for exciting offensive football, pure dominance over possession and unconditional control on the pitch – qualities that all top clubs have long since registered.
So it’s hardly surprising that many fans of a specific club are currently flooding the comment columns of Xabi Alonso’s Instagram account. And what’s more: Even the pictures that Alonson’s wife Nagore posts on her account are repeatedly commented on with a very specific statement – a striking pattern.

Liverpool fans beg Alonso and his wife
It is the fans of Liverpool FC who are almost begging on social networks for Xabi Alonso to become the coach of their heart club next season. Both the pictures of Xabi and Nagore repeatedly say: “Come to Liverpool”, “Liverpool next season”, “Welcome to Liverpool” or “Tell Xabi to come to Liverpool”.
The reason for the supporters’ vehemence is clear: Jürgen Klopp, one of the greatest coaches in Liverpool history, is ending his time at the Reds. It’s clear that the fans want a top successor for their Kloppo. The rumor mill is churning, Alonso is considered one of the most promising candidates for the post.

This is also due to his past. Alonso played for Liverpool FC from 2004 to 2009 and won the Champions League in the epic duel in Istanbul against AC Milan in 2005.
Many a Leverkusen fan can already see the disaster coming: it is considered unlikely that Alonso will continue to be coach of the Werkself next season given his outstanding performances. The well-known competition is too potent. Accordingly, there are always comments under his current Instagram posts like: “No matter what happens after this season. Thanks for everything, Alonso. You will never be forgotten again in Leverkusen.”
