Non-profit climate research group Climate Central has developed two scenarios for the future of famous world landmarks. It presents a worst-case scenario for keeping warming at 1.5°C and a scenario for what the world will look like in 50 years if climate change continues at its current rate.

As Day.Az reports, the pessimistic option assumes that by 2070 the temperature will increase by 3°C. In this case, the world will face global changes. A more optimistic version assumes that it will be possible to contain global warming to the current level of 1.5°C. Scientists note that this version can only be achieved with a sharp reduction in carbon dioxide emissions and environmental pollution.

Experts have modeled forecasts for about two hundred different locations. Among the Russian attractions is the St. Petersburg Hermitage. Experts suggest that in a worst-case scenario, the museum could be flooded.
