The actress married the actor Sergio Rubini in 1990. The two met at the National Academy of Dramatic Art in Rome. “She was twenty years old when I saw her act at the theater. All my friends said: “But who is that crazy girl?”. Instead, I understood that she was very good precisely because she was different. Since I’m two years older than her, I’ve been a bit of a pygmalion of her. I believe that today she is the greatest Italian actress. And when I say it, rather than complimenting her, I compliment myself,” Rubini confessed to Vanity Fair.
They separated in 1993. The divorce came in 2012, but they still remained on good terms. To Corriere della Sera, the actor explained the reasons that led to the end of their marriage: “Maybe we were too young. Today we have a very good relationship, we have no problems when we work together, it’s fantastic, it has remained as it was.”
After Rubini, Margherita Buy had another great love. From 1996 to 2012 the actress lived with the Roman surgeon Roberto De Angelis, father of her daughter Caterina. Born in Salerno on 7 March 1952, he is a famous doctor. Their story lasted eleven years before the separation which took place over 10 years ago.
