If it was up to me, Mikhail Stoinov would have been removed as deputy minister, said Alexander Yolovski

“The post of minister was offered to me by a person who is currently in the prime minister’s political office. I am not a party nominee, I received an invitation in my capacity as an expert”, said the minister of e-governance Alexander Yolovski in the program “Wake up” on Nova tv

“The decision whether to remain a minister was never for me. I am not a person who backs down from my principles and I will fight to the end for what I believe in,” he said.

“For me, the post is not an end in itself. When someone asks me to resign, the easiest way is for it to be voted on in the National Assembly. There is enough time until the rotation. Considering the results we have achieved in a short time, if they offer me to remain a minister, I will I’m thinking seriously,” the e-governance minister also said.

In October last year, the Sofia City Prosecutor’s Office began an investigation into threats against Yolovski. GERB and “There is such a people” claim that the minister told the chairman’s council in the parliament that he was pressured by Kiril Petkov and Bozhidar Bojanov. Both Petkov and Bojanov deny these claims.

“I was expressly warned by the supervising prosecutor that I have no right to disclose information on the case,” he commented.

The minister also commented on why there was no machine voting in the first round of the local elections.

“The reason was the decision of the Supreme Administrative Court, which said that an order of mine authorizing my deputy to carry out all the necessary authentication activities was illegal. According to him, this function in the ministry has always been delegated to a deputy. “So I didn’t make an innovation, it was just the first time the court was approached. And when we talk about this topic, it is important to say that the court was approached because the final possible term for the certification of the machines was running out. The reason for the cancellation of the machine vote is that so far in none of the previous elections, in which machines were used, the letter of the law was not followed, namely that the certification of these machines should be carried out in 20 working days,” stated Yolovski.

“If it were up to me, Mihail Stoinov would have been removed as deputy minister,” said Yolovski. According to him, he was proposed for the position by the previous minister, Bozhidar Bojanov. “What I know is that the result of the investigation is awaited. After all, everyone is innocent until proven guilty,” the minister said.

He also said that the functions of authentication of voting machines will be carried out by him and not by a deputy if he continues to be minister, as there is also a court decision. “After the failure of machine voting in the first round, in a very short time I led the process and we were able to successfully certify the machines for the second round, so I think I have proven that for me machine voting is in no way a problem, on the contrary,” he said Yolovsky.
