Late on Friday evening, the message came that Gaël Monfils (37) had been disqualified from the show tournament Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS).

It will be held in Telenor Arena this weekend. On Saturday, there will be further details on what was the reason.

– He was playing with a tournament leader who suffered a slight injury, UTS manager and tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou tells TV 2.

– Did something physical happen?

– Yes, but it was nonsense. Sometimes it happens. There were no bad intentions, but anyway when something like that happens we had to do it.

In a post, UTS writes that a playful exchange in the dressing room between Monfils and tournament leader Stephane Apostolou resulted in a minor injury.

“UTS is one hundred percent satisfied that there was no harm intended by Gaël, but because it was an injury that a person responsible suffered, no matter how small, we felt that there was no other alternative than to take action,” says that in the message.

– Gaël was nice afterwards. He apologized and said he made a mistake, Mouratoglou tells TV 2.
