The Minister of Agriculture will meet with representatives of the agrarian associations this afternoon. The final text of the agreement between the government and the farmers’ branch organization is expected to be finalized before it is signed early next week.
Despite expectations that the signing of the agreement would end the protests and iron out differences on state aid and compensation, this is not happening.
The talks between the authorities and farmers scheduled for today will take place against the background of ongoing discord in the sector. Yesterday it became clear that an initiative committee of 26 organizations does not support the agreements reached with the rulers, continues to insist on the resignation of Kiril Vatev and calls for the renewal of the protests from Tuesday, Nova TV reported.
Meanwhile, the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber issued a statement to the media. In it, they state that the escalation of protests instead of constructive talks in a situation of upcoming rotation in the executive power gives a political nuance and the pursuit of personal goals, from which BAK categorically distinguishes itself.
