Environmental activists from the “Food Response” (Riposte alimentaire) movement poured soup on the painting “Spring” by the French impressionist artist Claude Monet at the Lyon Museum of Fine Arts.

This was reported by the local publication Progrès, Day.Az reports.

City authorities confirmed the incident to the publication. According to the publication’s initial information, the masterpiece was protected by glass. The Impressionist Hall was closed, and the painting should be checked by an expert in the coming days, the publication adds.

The movement itself posted on its page on the social network X photographs and a video of the action, in which two girls took part in white T-shirts with the name of the organization. After pouring soup over the masterpiece, the activists stood with their backs to it, raising their right hands, and uttered the slogan: “This spring will be our only one if we don’t react. What will our future artists write?” The movement said in a statement published on social media that it would like to “warn of the impending climate and social crisis.”
