The Ministry of Internal Affairs received 20 new cameras with artificial intelligence. They will film in both lanes and will immediately send the sanction to the Unified Center for Processing Violations, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov announced.

He explained that the Ministry of the Interior will purchase another 280 cameras. After the increased activity in the imposition of sanctions, there is also an increase in collections. It is BGN 7 million for January compared to BGN 4 million for January of this year. There is also a decrease in victims, the minister reported.

Each of the regional directorates – Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Gabrovo, Kardjali, Lovech, Montana, Pazardjik, Plovdiv, Razgrad.
Silistra, Sliven, Smolyan, Stara Zagora, Dobrich, Targovishte and Shumen will each have one of these devices, and two will be given to
the needs of the Pleven Directorate.

Advanced 4D ND FMSI radars and high-resolution cameras are integrated into the devices, and equipped with built-in artificial intelligence. This allows for speed control in multiple lanes, making them well-applied both on highways and in urban settings.

Their specially programmed system makes it possible to monitor traffic and to accurately read vehicle registration plates under any lighting conditions (in the dark and the bright part of the day). The high resolution of the obtained images allows coverage of up to 3 lanes (in the same direction of traffic or in opposite directions of traffic) in an excellent level of detail. The system identifies the type of vehicle – light or cargo. It is able to recognize its speed and position when moving in the detection area and allows the registration of violations of multiple vehicles at the same time, for example, vehicles moving in different lanes.

Violations recorded by the camera will be transmitted directly to the Center for
processing violations, using a secure mobile connection for subsequent processing and preparation of an electronic ticket.

The devices fully meet the requirements of the Road Traffic Act and are certified by the Bulgarian Institute of Standardization and Metrology. In addition, employees have already been trained – two each from the directorate – to work with the camera and the system for its service.

The purpose of the newly purchased technical means is part of the new project initiative of the Ministry of the Interior, aimed at reducing traffic injuries.
