A thunderbolt kills a football player during a match in Indonesia

Indonesian football stadiums witnessed an unfortunate incident in which a player named Septian from Subang was killed after being struck by a thunderbolt during a friendly match held yesterday, Sunday.

According to Indonesian media, the meeting was held amid bad weather, which witnessed sudden fluctuations from hot to cloudy and was accompanied by a series of lightning and thunder waves.
A video clip, circulated on social media, showed the moment the player was struck by a thunderbolt during a match between his team, “FBI Subang” and the “FLO FC” team, at Siliwangi Stadium Bandung.
According to the circulated footage, the victim’s team was passing the ball among themselves before passing it to Sabtian, who, not seconds after receiving the ball, was struck by a strong thunderbolt, as a result of which he fell to the field and died instantly.
The players immediately rushed towards the 30-year-old player, in an attempt to rescue him, but they found him breathing his last, and the incident left them in a state of astonishment and shock.
The hospital said that the player suffered serious burns as a result of the thunderbolt, to the point that many parts of his skin melted.
For its part, the Indonesian Football Association offered condolences to the player’s family and his team, and called on Indonesian clubs in all their local competitions to observe a minute of silence for his soul before the start of this week’s matches.
