Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva held a meeting in Dubai with the President of COP29, Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Mukhtarov Babayev, Day.Az reported on Tuesday, citing information from the head of the IMF on social networks.
“We had a great meeting with COP29 President Mukhtar Babaev in Dubai at the World Government Summit on February 12. We discussed priorities for COP29 and steps the IMF can take to support global efforts on climate change,” Georgieva wrote .
It should be noted that a meeting of the leaders of the COP28, COP29 and COP30 countries and a number of thematic panels took place in Dubai.
Mukhtar Babayev spoke at the panel discussion “Combating climate change through promoting sustainable finance.”
Let us recall that the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in November 2024 in Baku.
