The protests of part of the farmers, who plan to block key roads in the country again today – over 20 points in the country, continue. Their representatives will gather today at noon and in front of the Council of Ministers.
The 26 agricultural organizations that reject the agreements reached with the government and continue with the protests claim that they produce 80% of the milk, 90% of the vegetables, 30% of the grain, 100% of the rice and rose oil in the country. They demand the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture Kiril Vatev.
On Monday, traffic was blocked by tractors on the roads Elhovo – Lesovo, Pleven – Oryahovo, on Petolachka, near Dolni Bogrov. At noon, the road Ruse – Veliko Tarnovo near the village of Polikraishte was closed for an hour, as well as the road Kyustendil – Dupnitsa. Traffic to the Kalotina and Gueshevo border crossings was also blocked with heavy equipment.
Two of the associations of agricultural producers – the grain producers and the Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber – signed an agreement with the government yesterday.
It foresees that there will be financial support according to the scale of the agricultural holding for the areas on which wheat, corn, barley, sunflower and rapeseed were grown in the economic year 2022/2023.
The amounts per acre will be higher for small and lower for large producers. The condition remains that farmers over three thousand decares must prove their losses, bTV reported.
