The YangWang luxury brand of the Chinese manufacturer BYD is getting closer to the official launch of a new electric car – the U7 sedan. The YangWang U7 car will come with a massive 135.5 kWh battery. This is an LFP pack made by FinDreams, a battery manufacturer owned by BYD. The package weighs a whopping 903kg – almost as much as the entire Dacia Spring Electric.

The battery type LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) and therefore has the large mass. LFP batteries are heavier than Li-ion batteries. In comparison, for example, the Nio’s 150 kWh battery weighs only 575 kg.

The mileage is set from 720 km to 800 km. The longer one is achieved with additional aerodynamic wheel covers, optional bumpers and side cameras instead of mirrors. This results in a drag coefficient drop to 0.195 Cd and an increase in range. The mass of the battery accounts for almost 1/3 of the total weight of 3095 kilograms. The car is close to the 3500kg limit, when the driver will need a new category on their driving licence.
