Shale oil production in the United States in March 2024 compared to February will increase by 20 thousand barrels – from 9.696 million barrels per day (b/d) to 9.716 million b/d. This is stated in the report of the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy, Day.Az reports with reference to TASS.

Actual shale oil production in February turned out to be slightly higher than the values expected by the department in the previous forecast, amounting to 9.696 million bpd versus an estimate of 9.68 million bpd.

Increased recovery is expected in four of the seven oil-bearing regions where tight oil production is concentrated, the report indicates. The greatest growth is predicted in the Permian Basin, where average daily shale oil production in March should increase by 14 thousand b/d, to 6.085 million b/d. In addition, an increase in production by 1 thousand barrels is expected in the Niobrara formation – up to 712 thousand b/d. In the Eagle Ford formation, the figure will increase by 5 thousand b/d, to 1.145 million b/d, in the Bakken formation – by 3 thousand b/d, to 1.206 million b/d.

At the same time, a decrease in shale oil production is expected in two areas. Thus, in the Anadarko formation, production will decrease compared to February figures by 1 thousand b/d, to 383 thousand b/d, in the Appalachian formation – by 2 thousand b/d, to 152 thousand b/d.

In the Haynesville formation, as the US Department of Energy expects, the figure will remain at the same level – 33 thousand b/d.
