NASA and SpaceX will launch a mission from Florida (USA) with the PACE satellite that will study the oceans and the atmosphere.

Although it was scheduled for this Wednesday, it was postponed due to the strong winds that have prevented the tests prior to takeoff.

Within the PACE team, a Venezuelan scientist will participate; the biologist Laura Lorenzoni, graduated from the Simón Bolívar University (USB) in Caracas, Venezuela.

The capital is also part of the Ocean Biology and Biogeochemistry (OBB) Program in NASA’s Scientific Missions Directorate.

«What attracts me to space: the unknown that you can know. And we certainly know more about our Moon, and we are on the way to knowing more about Mars, than we know about our ocean,” said the Venezuelan biologist in an interview for Nasa en Español.

He also expressed pride in his roots by stating: “I was born and raised in Venezuela.”

The objective of this mission will be to study the plankton, aerosols, clouds and marine ecosystems of planet Earth from space.

SpaceX detailed this Wednesday that there is a possibility that the launch will be on Friday.

The satellite remains in the fairing of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket on a pad at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in central Florida.

“The vehicle and payload remain in good condition and the teams will continue to monitor weather conditions,” SpaceX detailed in its X account.

Once in space, this revolutionary satellite will be located 676.5 kilometers away, that is, even further away from where the International Space Station orbits.
