The national women’s chess team has started a training camp in Velingrad, the Bulgarian Sports Chess Federation announced.

The camp is organized by the FIDE member headquarters and is part of the preparation of our players for the individual European Classical Chess Championship, which will be held on the island of Rhodes (Greece) from April 18 to April 30, 2024.

The European champions from Budva, Antoaneta Stefanova, Nurgyul Salimova, Beloslava Krasteva and Victoria Radeva, will be preparing in Velingrad until February 23. They will train under the leadership of the national women’s team coach Petar Arnaudov and his team.

Gergana Peycheva, who was also part of the team that took the gold medals from the European team championship in Montenegro, has commitments in the USA and will not be present.

For the first time in over 10 years, a similar chess training camp is being held in Bulgaria, and the BSFSH promises to have such camps soon not only for the national teams for men and women, but also for those for young men and women.
