  • The Plovdiv Prosecutor’s Office refused to initiate pre-trial proceedings, and found no violation of the law
  • We will condemn the municipality for billions, but why should the taxpayers pay them, asks businessman Ivan Kandev

Production companies from Plovdiv have submitted reports to the National Assembly, the chief prosecutor, i.f. Borislav Sarafov, GDBOP, the ministries of regional development and the environment and DNSK, that they should stop working because in the new General Development Plan the areas in which they work are designated for residential development. Specifically, in the Trakia area, behind the former furniture house, a construction contractor was already building a huge residential complex, right next to production bases that emit fumes into the air, and noise was also raised.

“If these buildings are built, we will have to stop working. The change in the purpose of the zone was carried out in complete violation of the Law on territorial planning, on the purity of the atmospheric air and on the noise in the environment, behind it is corruption.” claims businessman Ivan Kandev. The victims appealed to the District Prosecutor’s Office – Plovdiv, which refused to initiate pre-trial proceedings because it did not find a violation of the law.

At the end of this year, a report was also submitted to the RDNSK, but according to Kandev, even the building permit for the construction of the residential complex has not been checked so far. Complaints have therefore been submitted to many national institutions. The businessman is also collecting signatures, because according to him, in the new plan of Plovdiv, other production areas have already been converted into residential areas. “We will condemn the municipality for billions, but why should the taxpayers pay them,” asks Kandev.

“The general development plan was adopted in compliance with the legal requirements. These people have filed reports with the prosecutor’s office and many institutions, let’s wait for their pronouncement”, commented the former chief architect of Plovdiv Dimitar Ahryanov to “24 Chasa”, during which it was prepared and accepted the plan.
