Israel, during consultations in Cairo, did not receive any new proposals from the radical Hamas movement ruling in the Gaza Strip for a deal to release hostages held in the enclave.

As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, this was reported by the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

“In Cairo, Israel has not received any new proposals from Hamas for the release of our hostages. Prime Minister Netanyahu insists: Israel will not give in to Hamas’ delusional demands. Changing Hamas’s position will allow progress in the negotiations,” the report said.

Previously, the Israeli portal Walla! Citing sources, it was reported that Netanyahu had decided not to send an Israeli delegation to Cairo to participate in further consultations to move towards a deal to release hostages held by Hamas. According to him, in an attempt to make progress on a ceasefire deal, the Egyptians and Qataris proposed further negotiations, but Netanyahu said there was no point in them until Hamas agreed to change its position. In particular, we are talking about the number of Palestinian prisoners whose release from Israeli prisons is demanded by the movement, the portal notes.

According to state radio station Kan, the decision not to send a delegation to Cairo for a second time on February 15 was made by the prime minister in consultations with a limited number of participants, which did not include military cabinet ministers Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot. They were informed about it later, the radio station notes.
