Pianist and composer Riad Mammadov performed at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center in Paris. The program was dedicated to the memory of the victims of the January 20 tragedy. In addition, the musician also gave a separate solo concert in the city of Bourges, at the Théâtre Saint Bonnet Theater.
As Day.Az reports, the concert dedicated to the memory of the victims of the events of January 20 was organized by the Association of Friends of Azerbaijan in France with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in France and the permanent mission to UNESCO in Paris.
The event at the Azerbaijan Cultural Center was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, cultural and artistic figures, professors and journalists. The concert featured works by foreign and Azerbaijani composers.
“I performed works by Tchaikovsky, improvisations on Bach’s C minor partita, works by the French pianist Michel Petrucciani, whose works are rarely performed, music by Sergei Rachmaninov and Vagif Mustafazadeh, as well as my own works,” said Riad Mammadov in an interview with AZERTAC.
The musician’s performance was also a great success in Bourges, at the San Bonnet Theater. According to the pianist, the theater received a very warm welcome from General Director Frank Supe and his wife Anna Maria Supe.
“The performance went very well, this is an amazing theater! At this concert I performed a different program. The repertoire included works by Tchaikovsky, Petrucciani and Vagif Mustafazadeh, in addition, I played Yakov Okun’s transcriptions of Scriabin’s etude and my own compositions,” said our interlocutor.
The audience enthusiastically received Riad Mammadov’s performance: the musician was called for an encore three times with thunderous applause.
Riad Mammadov graduated from the Moscow Conservatory and graduate school in piano, as well as theoretical graduate school as a musicologist. In his creative activity, he mixes different genres and musical styles. The musician performs works from the classical academic repertoire and at the same time develops the direction of jazz-mugam in Russia and abroad, which has become the sphere of his stage and scientific interests.
