I did not suspect the extent of Martin Bojanov’s influence. He had many contacts with prosecutors and judges at all levels. This is what Nevena Zartova, the retired district prosecutor of Sofia, told bTV. The influence on the magistrates was with money and kompromats.

Zartova explained that in the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office there were cases filed against Martin Bojanov-Notary, which were subsequently terminated.

“These cases are 17 in number, the majority of them ended a long time ago – in the period from 1998 – 2003-2005 to 2017. They ended with refusal and termination in Bojanov’s interest. There are two relatively -new cases – from 2020 and 2021. Both cases were dismissed on the grounds that the absolute statute of limitations for criminal prosecution had expired. This means that a significant period of time has elapsed from the time the complaints were filed to the time the act was committed of time. There are no unnecessary delays, there are no doubts – at least I did not find any. These prosecutor’s files were never distributed to prosecutors from the specialized department – as was announced,” Nevena Zartova pointed out.

According to her, she only now became familiar with the contents of the files – she had not read them before. She met with the Notary in his capacity as a complainant who wished to have explanations taken from him. “The story of a grandiose criminal scheme directed against him and his relatives,” added Zartova.

Nevena Zartova said that her acquaintance with Martin Bojanov dates back to 2005. He himself contacted her officially.

“The main reason for my resignation is the tension that has built up in the Sofia District Prosecutor’s Office since last summer until now. It is expressed in the presence of endless checks – complex for the overall activity, which burden the work of both colleagues and the administration. I prefer to retire so that my colleagues can work in a calmer environment,” said Zartova.
