The Izvestia Hall building is on fire on Pushkin Square in Moscow, Day.Az reports.

“There is a fire in an administrative building, which is under reconstruction. Preliminarily, the area of ​​the fire is 1.5 thousand sq. m. Currently, as a result of a fire inside the courtyard of the Izvestia Hall building, the dome of a metal building has collapsed. Fire and rescue teams are working at the scene units,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

The fire was assigned the third complexity number out of five.

Traffic is restricted due to firefighting efforts.

Izvestia correspondent Alexander Shpak was one of the first at the scene of the event and managed to get almost to the very source of the fire.

The center of Moscow, Pushkinskaya Square – the blaze of sirens, dozens of fire trucks. One of the most famous symbols of Moscow is burning – the Izvestia Hall building. Journalists managed to arrive at the scene of the emergency in advance, and even enter the courtyard of the building.

It soon became clear that the fire was much more serious. The huge column of smoke above the building was simply not visible due to the heavy snowfall.

According to firefighters, the fire area is 1,500 square meters. The Izvestia Hall employees managed to leave the building on their own. As we found out, the fire initially broke out in a nightclub, which is located in the same building.

Now the area around the building is cordoned off, Tverskaya Street and adjacent alleys are blocked, so it is better for motorists to avoid the city center on their way to work.

Rescuers are now working inside the building. The fire is complex, there are many stairs and floors. There is unconfirmed information that there may be a person inside who did not manage to evacuate in time.
