The National Civil Police (PNC) captured Walter Alexis Salazar Calles, alias Rata, in the department of Sonsonate, after trying to extort money from a bar on behalf of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS13).

According to the PNC statement, Walter Salazar “Rata” arrived at a bar to order a beer and, upon receiving it, revealed that his intention was to demand extortion, but the owners of the place refused to hand over the money.

The subject began to shout that he had already killed several people, he threatened them, saying that he was representing the MS13 and that he was going to impose rent again.

“Our teams received the alert and captured him immediately in the El à ngel neighborhood, Sonsonate. He will be prosecuted for aggravated extortion, threats and illicit groups. Salvadorans are now not afraid of these criminals and denounce them, so they are captured and sent to #CECOT,” said the PNC.
