Sarfraz Khan finally made his debut against England today after a long wait. He entered the field after Rohit Sharma was dismissed. Though initially nervous, the longer version took no time to start his natural batting in cricket.

After that, however, he continued to bat by influencing England’s bowlers. He picked up only 48-ball fifty in the debut match. With this, he set the record for the joint second fastest fifty by an Indian on debut.

Prior to that, Yuvraj of Patiala State had set the record for the fastest fifty in 1934 against England in just 42 balls. Then in 2017, Hardik Pandya scored the second fastest fifty off 48 balls. And today, Sarfraz scored a 48-ball fifty to jointly record the second fastest fifty. Behind them are Shikhar Dhawan (50 balls) and Prithvi’s (56 balls).

He completed his fifty in 48 balls with 7 fours and 1 six, at a strike rate of 100+. He was run out due to a misunderstanding after the team scored 314 runs. Before leaving, he got out with 62 runs off 66 balls with 9 fours and 1 six.

Ravindra Jadeja’s score was 84 when he entered the field. And when he got out, Jadeja’s run was 99, Sarfraz’s 62. This shows how well he has batted.
