Currently, the construction of five more hydroelectric power stations with a total capacity of more than 40 megawatts continues in the Lachin region. More precisely, work has already been completed at the Agbulag hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 14.25 megawatts. Construction has been completed and installation and commissioning work is currently underway at the Agbulag-2 hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 14.7 megawatts, Garagyshlag with a capacity of 4 megawatts, Mirik with a capacity of 3.5 megawatts and Zabukh with a capacity of 2.8 megawatts. These five hydroelectric power plants are also planned to be put into operation as part of the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World”.

Azerenergy reported this to Day.Az on Thursday.

“To date, four commissioned hydroelectric power plants have generated 77 million kWh of green energy.

The embrace of green energy is rapidly expanding in Azerbaijan, which is prioritizing the transition to alternative and renewable energy sources, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and other progressive principles and will host such a prestigious event as COP-29, declaring 2024 the “Year of Solidarity in the name of the green world.”

In particular, in accordance with the instructions of the head of state to transform the territories liberated from occupation into “green” energy zones, hydroelectric power stations are being consistently created. One of such territories is the Lachin region, where Azerenergy is carrying out a number of works. It should be noted that in accordance with the green energy strategy, hydroelectric power stations have been created and are being created in the Lachin region in 9 places.

Thus, to date, in the Lachin region, the Mishni hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 8.25 megawatts, the Gulyabird hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 8 megawatts, and the Alkhasly hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 6 megawatts have been reconstructed and put into operation, and the Sus hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 4 megawatts has been restored. As a result, to date, more than 77 million kW/h of environmentally friendly “green” energy has been produced at hydroelectric power stations commissioned by Azerenergy in the Lachin region.

Due to the production of 77 million kW/h of “green” energy, 18 million cubic meters of gas and millions of manats were saved, and the emission of 32 thousand tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere was prevented. Most importantly, the necessary measures were taken to protect the ecosystem; European-made ECO turbines were installed at the stations.
